IRENE PINOLE MIRROR.jpg
Irene Pinole, 76, one of the oldest living people with Down Syndrome, is a survivor. Now living in a group home, she spent a few decades housed in state mental institutions where life was awful. For most of the past twenty years, she has spent her days making art at a center for the disabled where she watercolors and sews quilts. Anne Chadwick Williams /May 2004/Sacramento Bee/
